2009-10-29: Transport to Orlando Stadium
The City of Johannesburg is to provide transport to the Soweto derby match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday 31 October 2009. The Rea Vaya buses will be operating normal hours from Ellis Park to Thokoza Park in Soweto. The number of buses operating in the afternoon will be increased in order to accommodate all spectators. The fees will be the normal fee of R5.00 per trip.
After the match the service will operate from Orlando Stadium to Thokoza Park and Ellis Park. The buses will run every 5 minutes after the match for 40 minutes. The buses will stop at all the stations in Soweto and in the CBD it will only stop at Westgate, Chancellor House, Art Gallery and Ellis Park.
We need to always keep in mind that the Rea Vaya BRT is for all people of Johannesburg. The City is doing it utmost best to improve public transport and to build a coalition for good quality public transport.
